Fleet Indian provided Kunigal Stud Farm resident sire Tejano with his second Derby success in India when he held off the challenge of Messalina to win the Gr 1 Poonawalla Mysore Derby on Sunday, October 17. Astrologica who had won the Golconda Derby was the first Derby success for Tejano who also had sired top notch performer like Adolifto who had won, among other races, the prestigious Gr 1 President of India Gold Cup.

Fleet India is owned by Ramanjula Reddy who has proved to be quite successful with Kunigal bred horses. Last year, the progeny of Burden of Proof, Fleeting Arrow had won the Gr 1 Colts Trial Stakes and Gr 2 Bangalore 2000 Guineas. Fleet Indian is trained by Babu Rao who was thus recording his first Derby success of his career.
