- Sharan Kumar

The Kunigal Stud Farm which has been in the news by the consistent manner, in which its produce is winning its share of races for juveniles, has about 57 two-year olds which will be seen in action post November 2006.

The three-year old daughter of Burden of Proof, Sarabande has already recorded a hat-trick of wins including a graded race at Hyderabad.

Caprese won a sprint race at Mysore during August in splendid fashion and though trainer Jaggy Dhariwal and the connections had the inkling of what to expect from her, they persisted racing her over a mile where her speed was blunted and she did not live up to expectations. At the beginning of This year will see the first crop of Brave Act in action. 29 two-year olds from the first crop of Brave
Act will soon reach the respective trainers. Brave Act has had the distinction of siring a Group race winner at Canada from his first crop. Frequent Flyer who is from his first crop, has won the Gr 3 Natalma Stakes at Woodbine and there are two black-type performers from that first crop. Burden of Proof has 21 representatives while Tejano (5) and Serious Spender (2) will form the core juveniles from the Kunigal Stud Farm. Of the 57 two-year olds, 21 have been retained to be trained by Jaggy Dhariwal and Pesi Shroff while the remaining ones have been sold to various owners. Turf baron Dr M A M Ramaswamy has brought seven top juveniles.

Brave Act has aroused great expectations. Brave Act (Persian Bold) is a winner of 13 races and he has a sentimental value to the stud farm as another of Persian Bold namely Bold Russian, sired India’s greatest horse Saddle Up.
