United Racing & Bloodstock Breeders Ltd was formed by Dr. Vijay Mallya in the year 1988 to bring under a single banner his rapidly growing interests in Racing & Breeding.

While Dr. Mallya started owning race horses at the early age of 21 with the purchase of Danish Lad who raced and won in 1976 however, it was in the year 1985 that he started purchasing quality horses in numbers to compete at the highest levels of the sport. 

Having owned and raced several top class fillies it seemed only natural that he should breed with them and this led to his taking over in 1992 the historic Kunigal Stud Farm located 70km from his corporate head quarters at Bangalore.
